Absolutely obsessed with this 3D Printer...

This... this printer. I need this printer. I want this printer.

The Bambu Labs A1

I've had my current XYZ DaVinci 1.0 Pro for 6-7 years. I've had it since December of 2018.

It's old and I need a new one. I'm hoping the A1 can be my new one.

Every video I watch, every thing I read about it, it just keeps getting better and better. It's so appealing that I cannot NOT buy it.

And of course this isn't a decision on a whim at all. I actually wrote down a whole list of things that are wrong with my current printer v.s. things that are great about the A1.

So what's wrong with my current printer?

  • It's old
    • I got this thing December of 2018.
  • Older 3D Printing technology
  • Liable to bullshit me
    • Sometimes when I press a button to see how much time the print has left, it has a super rare chance of glitching and beeping and stopping the print midway through… this has only happened once or twice but I’d rather it not happen again
    • That printer likes to botch a printing job often and will jam itself or mess up the print severely
  • The print quality sucks sometimes
    • It can't print hinges
    • It can't do print-in-place objects
      • Meaning the object has inner workings or hinges that can be printed in place and still work without printing the object in parts
    • My prints always have a lack of finer detail
      • I'm aware that this can be fixed with a narrower nozzle on my printer but there's still a noticeable low quality in my prints at times
  • The software is simple and easy to understand but it sucks
    • The XYZ Maker program (back when I used it for custom models before learning blender) had this weird thing where the files you saved went to some secret hidden folder that you could only access through the app. One day the program updated and all my files disappeared.
    • Every time I open the XYZ Print app, there are 2-3 pop-ups that I have to get through.
    • The XYZ Print app has ads...
  • I always have to tape up the print bed.
    • The printer actually came with its own print beds that you would have to put onto the default glass print bed that the printer has. Those print beds sucked and always broke or never let the print stick to itself... so I resorted to using blue masking tape and boy let me tell you how annoying that is. Every big print I make I have to always replace the print bed and re-tape it.
  • The printer has a print space of 15 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm
  • The printer is loud
    • The motors are always noisy and sometimes when the printer head moves, it'll make this weird and obnoxious grind noise. (I checked and there isn't anything wrong... it just makes that noise)
  • I know that failed prints happen and are a natural part of the process but my printer fumbles so much and often cannot print a model correctly.
    • I can also pause prints but if 5 minutes pass it stops the process

What's so exciting about the new printer?

  • The A1 is faster! Much faster!
  • It's more modern
  • It has a magnetic print bed that heats up so your prints can stick to it better and if that isn't enough, it comes with a special glue stick
    • Totally a lot less hassle than always having to re-apply 4 strips of masking tape across the print bed
  • It has a camera that takes pictures of your print while it prints and makes a timelapse out of it.
    • This is especially cool because I'm super used to always checking on a print in progress in case it fails and I can stop the process before any more filament is wasted
    • The A1 lets you stop and start a print remotely!
  • Prints in much better quality
    • This printer can do all sorts of Print-in-place models
  • It's quiet and smooth
  • Portable!
    • I watched a guy in a video carry this thing around like it was nothing. It might not even be that heavy it seems. If this is so, then I could always take this to my grandpa's house and print stuff there if I need to.
  • Much bigger and very generous print space
    • 256 mm x 256 mm x 256 mm
      • THAT'S 25 CM COMPARED TO THE 15 CM!!!
      • 10 INCHES OF PRINT SPACE!!
  • I could print in different colors if I wanted to!
    • The printer has a separate add-on that you can buy that holds 4 spools and lets you print models in multiple colors
      • I'm gonna do this much later on though because it's expensive and the actual process and concept creates a TON of filament waste

Overall this printer is the thing I needed for a very long time. It's got me all:

I'm so OBSESSED with getting this thing! And I'm hoping that I can get it SUPER soon!

One of my friends for some reason even suggested that I turned the 3D Printer into an anime girl... and I went ahead and did...

She's now an official character in my little M-T Verse... for some reason.

I NEED THIS DANG PRINTER!!

okay that's it, I'll keep y'all updated.
